Careers in Education
Program Description
Are you interested in a career that will make a difference in the lives of children and the future of our nation? This special program explores a variety of careers in education and human services. Students will study the history, development, organization, and practices of preschool, elementary, and secondary education and will have personal experiences in local elementary schools. You will explore and prepare for the following careers: Teacher, social worker, school counselor, child care program director, parent educator, child advocate, and human resource trainer. You will learn about human growth and development, learning styles, effective teaching, methods of instruction, lesson planning, and more! Students will earn CPR and First Aid certifications, along with training in a variety of human service-related programs. College credit may be earned with a variety of colleges and universities throughout the state including Saginaw Valley State University, Central Michigan University, Delta College, and morel Students in this program will develop leadership skills by participating in SkillsUSA, a national student organization
