Graphic Arts
Program Description
In this hands-on program, students learn how to use creative thinking to produce visually appealing designs, products, images, and works of art and use principles of design as a foundation to build their creative skills. This two-year program uses the latest technology in computer hardware and design software to teach graphic design, DSLR (Digital Single Lens Reflex) photography and videography, and a variety of professional printing operations. Students work with clients and mentors to refine their skills and develop their marketability. A professional portfolio and website, along with industry skills and experience prepare students to continue their education or go straight into the workforce. Students have the opportunity to participate and compete in SkillsUSA, a national student organization. College credit may be earned at Delta College, Ferris State University, Baker College, and more

Special Program Features
Students may participate in SkillsUSA, a national organization that provides opportunities to develop teamwork, personal leadership, and career skills valued by employees
12th-grade students will complete and present senior projects
Paid and unpaid work-based learning experiences may be available.
Students will be given real printing, photography, or design competition assignments that will be entered at the local, state, or national level of competition.
Students may join the student-run organization called the “Graphic Arts Club.” The Club will have three competitions in printing, digital photography, and design.
Professionals will judge and critique student work.
