Dear Parents,
As you are aware the Saginaw Arts and Sciences Academy is undergoing a major transformation that includes programming and facility upgrades at the new site located at 3115 Mackinaw St. (Former Arthur Hill High School). The facility upgrades entail all instructional and extracurricular upgrades including but not limited to; classrooms, S.T.E.M./Maker Space area, media center, performing arts theatre, black box theatre, dance studio, art studios, vocal and instrumental music spaces, gymnasium, pool, locker rooms and office spaces and exterior athletic facilities.
Due to the extensiveness of the renovations, coupled with supply delays and normal construction impediments, the transformation will not be 100% completed by the start of instruction on September 3, 2024. We have been informed by our construction management team that the performing arts theatre, the pool, the fitness center/weight room, the black box theater (audio, lights only), the green room and instructional rooms for S.T.E.M. will not be completed by the start day. In addition, there will be touch ups that will be taking place throughout the building in terms of paint trim and finishes.
Therefore, we are requesting your patience and understanding as we continue to transform the new Saginaw Arts and Sciences Academy. We anticipate that this work will continue throughout the first semester with a target date of being 100% completed by the end of January 2025. The continued construction will not impact our start date or our instructional year. If you have any questions or concerns you can reach out to Ms. Rachel Reid, Principal at (989) 399-5500. Thank you.
Sincerely,
Ramont M. Roberts, Ph.D., Superintendent of Schools
