Welcome Back Students!

August 1, 2024

Dear Families;

Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year for Saginaw Public Schools. I am excited to begin this school year, as we will be completing the work of transforming our school district into a 21st Century public school system.

With that designation comes exciting and transformational changes that include improved and enhanced technology with a 2:1 Chromebook ratio for students, updated chromebooks for all students, clevertouch interactive instructional boards in every instructional area, additional athletic offerings, enrichment and work based learning opportunities, enhanced social emotional support, and additional course offerings and electives. We will continue to deliver the curriculum both digitally and through traditional hard copy formats as we have seen significant growth in our students on local assessment data. We remain confident that delivering the curriculum with both options, will provide the necessary rigor and resources, enabling us to continue to increase student achievement and to ensure that our students are college and/or career ready. Finally, we will be moving into our last three facilities from Bond 2020. The new Saginaw Middle School (Former Saginaw High Site), the new Saginaw Arts and Sciences Academy (Former Arthur Hill Site) and the new Saginaw United will open on the first day of school for students on September 3, 2024. The opening of these facilities along with the curricular and extra-curricular programming will signal the completion of a 5- year journey that began with a strategic plan in 2019. We are certain that the changes we are making to Saginaw Public Schools, will allow students to be successful and competitive in a 21st century global economy. Through hard work, communication and collaboration, we will continue to make Saginaw Public Schools one the best school systems in the region, increasing student academic achievement, college acceptance rates, graduation rates and students that are prepared to enter the military and/or workforce.

Our collective efforts and relentless consistency will continue to assist in advancing our school district and community. We will continue to strive to provide the strongest educational program possible, and create consistent opportunities for our students to learn and grow in an environment which is safe, orderly and responsive to the individual student.

Thank you for taking the time to support our students and the school district. If you need assistance in any area, I encourage you to contact any member of our staff. We are eager to provide you with any information and or support which can enhance the educational experience of your child.

We look forward to welcoming all of our students back to school on Tuesday September 3, 2024.

Sincerely,
Ramont M. Roberts, Ph.D.
Superintendent of Schools
