Biliteracy Award

Two Saginaw Arts & Sciences Academy students have met the criteria to be awarded the Michigan Department of Education Seal of Biliteracy, Khushpreet Kaur Ghotra and Mankisha Kaur Ghotra. Mrs. Melanie Olk, EL Coach/Teacher for the Saginaw Public School District, presented these young ladies with the Seal of Biliteracy certificates today at SASA. This is a first time recognition for SPSD and we are excited to more formally honor these students at our commencement ceremony in the spring.

The Michigan Seal of Biliteracy (MI-SoBL) was created to recognize students who exhibit proficiency in English and at least one additional language. The MI-SoBL will provide employers with a way to identify individuals with strong language and biliteracy skills, and may serve as an additional tool for colleges and universities to recognize applicants' language abilities for admission and placement.

Way to go Khushpreet and Mankisha!
