JSHS

Congratulations to Blaise Maliskey, Diya Ramakrishnan, Jeff Soukhojak, and Miriam Haddad for qualifying to compete at Junior Science and Humanities Symposium (JSHS) on February 21, 2025.
Blaise, Diya, and Miriam will be competing in the oral competition, and Jeff will be a poster participant. JSHS students will report results of their original research investigations in STEM and compete for scholarships and recognition at university-held regional symposia.

Sponsored by the Tri-Services - U.S. Army, U.S. Navy and Marine Corps, and U.S. Air Force and Space Force, the Junior Science and Humanities Symposium (JSHS) promotes research and experimentation at the secondary school level and recognizes students for original research achievements. In southeastern Michigan, the program is housed in the College of Education at Wayne State University, where high school students attend the annual symposium to present their research and participate in a number of other activities. Participants have an opportunity to receive substantial scholarship awards at the regional and national levels.

1st Place: $2,000 scholarship
2nd Place: $1,500 scholarship
3rd Place: $1,000 scholarship

In addition to scholarships, the U.S. Office of the Secretary of Defense and the U.S. Departments of the Army, Navy, and Air Force invite the top five finalists from each Regional Symposium to an all-expenses-paid invitation to the National JSHS Symposium which will provide them an opportunity to compete for more scholarships.
